 Goole Town Council was created in 1982 with its first Councillors taking office in May, 1983.

Goole is situated in the East Riding of Yorkshire and the Council covers an area of approximately 2,192 acres with a population of around 18,500.

The principal authority is the East Riding of Yorkshire Council and the Town Council provides additional local services.
